Story vs Adventure? Seasonal vs non-seasonal?

Yo, I'm a new member and I am confused about Seasonal vs Non-Seasonal setting as well as Story vs Adventure mode on this server.
I know the difference between these features in standard D3;
However, i've created a character for each of these combinations and I have no idea what the difference is.
Or does it not matter and are they all in the same realm?
It would be best to explain this to new players, because if a D3 veteran can't tell the difference, new players may be even more confused :)
